Our dresses, skirts, jackets, tops, trousers and bags are made from natural hemp using traditional techniques of the Hmong, Iu Mien and Karen communities of Northern Thailand. Hemp is grown, prepared and often woven by hand; it is breathable, strong and softens with wear.
Hmong reverse appliqué and geometric embroidery, Iu Mien diamond batik with cross-stitch, and Karen hand-woven patterns appear across the clothing. The bags continue the same language: tribal embroidery, geometric and floral motifs, patchwork, pom-poms and beaded tassels on shoulder bags, shoppers and backpacks.
Slight variations in weave, dye and stitching are expected — they are the mark of real handwork. These are contemporary pieces that keep the original textures and motifs of Lanna hill tribe textiles.
This Modern-Style Iu Mien Pattern Black Diamond Dress is a striking traditional Hmong modernized piece featuring bold red accents. It masterfully blends authentic Hmong craftsmanship with contemporary elegance, showcasing intricate patterns in vibrant red motifs with geometric and symbolic designs, including crosses, florals, and abstract elements inspired by nature and heritage, that powerfully evoke Hmong cultural identity and storytelling through textile art.
The dress is a sleek all-black ankle-length garment with a clean high round neckline and sleeveless cut that offers a strong, modern silhouette. Two prominent diamond-shaped panels dominate the front: one centered on the upper bodice and a second lower on the skirt. Each diamond is outlined with delicate white stitching and filled with rich red swirling motifs (resembling traditional ornamental patterns), accented by fine white/cream details for a luxurious hand-embroidered effect. A vertical line of small white star-like stitches elegantly connects the two diamonds, creating a dramatic focal point down the center of the dress.
Perfect for celebrations, special occasions, cultural events, or as a bold everyday fusion piece, this dress honors Hmong artistry rooted in symbolic embroidery traditions while embracing modern comfort and sophisticated style.
